Derek Ross has been in the insurance and risk management industry for over 25 years.  He prides himself on providing responsive insurance service to clients in many diverse industries.

Derek assists with Disaster Prevention Training, Annual Claim Reviews and Specialized Loss Control Programs to help his clients lower their risk ratio and improve their bottom line. His expertise also includes controlling workers' compensation experience modifications by implementing risk management mechanisms.

Derek is a two-time President of the Independent Brokers and Agents of the San Fernando Valley (IBA SFV).  While serving, he represented the association in Washington D.C. and Sacramento, working with legislators to reform insurance regulations.  Derek was also elected to serve a three year term in 2014 as a Southern California Regional Director for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California (IIABcal).  In 2022, Derek was re-elected again to serve as the Southern California Regional Director.

Derek is a dedicated community volunteer and is experienced with disaster preparedness training.

He shares his expertise with several organizations, including the Ventura County Sheriffs Department (VCSD) Volunteer in Policing and Disaster Assistance Response Teams (D.A.R.T), and the Oak Park Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.)

In 2008, constituents elected Derek as a member of the Oak Park Municipal Advisory Council in his local community of Oak Park, California and served as the Chairman of that Council in 2011.  This entity serves as the local governance body for the commmunity of Oak Park.

Derek was also elected to the Oak Park Recreation and Park District Committee in 2010 and continues to have an active role with this committee.  (Chairman 2013, 2015 & 2021 & 2022).

His dedication to the community lead him to co-author a book titled, Images of America - Oak Park.  All the proceeds from that book have been donated to non-profit organizations in the community of Oak Park.

Furthermore, in 2010 Derek founded and volunteer edits a community website titled www.OakParkNow.com

In 2014, Derek was overwhelmingly elected by the community of Oak Park to serve a four (4) year term as a governing board member on the Oak Park Unified School District and served as its President in 2018.  He was re-elected in 2018 for a second four (4) year term.  You can learn more about his campaign by viewing www.DerekScottRoss.com

In 2016, Derek was honored with the prestigious Golden Acorn Award presented by the Community Foundation for Oak Park.  This award was established to honor residents for their ongoing volunteer service to the community.
